As history has progressed and different cultures, religions, and races have become continuously mixed and merged, the social issue of discrimination has become increasingly important.   In the 20th and now the 21st centuries, much literary work has been accomplished analyzing discrimination and its many forms and effects.  In the literary works including "Woodchucks"  by Maxine Kumin, "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and "La Migra" by Pat Mora, three very different forms of discrimination are expressed, each with its own mannerisms and victims.  "Woodchucks" expresses a form of discrimination based on moral disintegration in the pursuit of self-gain for a particular social group, while "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" focuses on discrimination and social separation as a result of cultural lack of knowledge, ability to use logic, and any sense of decency or compassion, and "La Migra" delves into discrimination along the lines of gender and national origin.
