Reflections: Al Gore's Environmental Warning

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore is well known as a champion for environmental causes. Speaking during a recent hour long interview on CNN's Larry King Live program, Mr. Gore related in dept his opinions on how lack of intense effort on the part of the present U.S. Administration is spelling disaster to our quality of life, if not life itself.

Unfortunately, the importance of the message espoused by Mr. Gore is diluted by his own actions. To be sure his message is correct, timely and important to everyone in the world. That fact makes the hypocrisy of his self serving actions all the more disgusting.

Inconvenient Truth is the title of Mr. Gore's Academy Award winning documentary on the environment. The real truth, the part that never made it into his film is the absolute and total disregard for the environment that Mr. Gore shows by ownership and occupancy of perhaps the most non-environmentally friendly residence in the United States.

As reported and confirmed at www.snopes.com in 2007, albeit not widely in the liberally slanted U.S. press, Mr. Gore owns a residence in the southern state of Tennessee that is properly described as follows.

"A twenty room mansion, not including eight bathrooms, heated by natural gas. In addition the "house" has a pool house, an uncovered pool and a separate three bedroom guest house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. Remember now, this house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern "snow belt" area. It's in the South. "

In his live interview on CNN's Larry King Live program, Mr. Gore railed against the current Bush administration as regards to a perceived lack of any intense effort on environmental issues. In effect he indicated that he wondered if anyone in the White House ever had anything concerning the environment and how human beings should be working to be green in any way they can.
