Buying CDs Cheaply on YourMusic.com

A YourMusic.com Review

What’s it all about?
I’m always trying to buy new CDs for the lowest price possible. So I’m glad I found yourmusic.com. It’s a membership where I’m automatically billed $5.99 a month plus taxes for a CD that I select. Shipping is free and I can buy new CDs in unlimited quantities throughout the month. I don’t like recurring fees on my credit card. But my desire to buy new CDs so cheaply outweighs my skepticism.

I listen to song samples before choosing which CDs to add to my queue – that’s where I list what CDs I want shipped to me next. Keeping a CD in the queue at all times is crucial because I’m charged even if I don’t.

Happy shipping!
And I receive my orders fast. I’ve never waited more than 5 days to receive my selections although the site states that it takes 10 – 14 business days.

Canceling is no hassle.
After receiving a 2nd CD from my queue in the second month of my membership, I decided that it was too much trouble to buy new CDs and deal with a recurring monthly charge. So I went to the page where I could manage my subscription and clicked on “cancel my subscription.” I didn’t receive any additional charges after that.

Reactivation is also a breeze.
About 6 months later, I had that urge to buy new CDs again. So with just a few clicks I was able to reactivate the membership.

Buy new CDs… What CDs?
One slight disappointment… Despite the inventory of over 14,000 titles that yourmusic.com has, I noticed that the selections are limited in some genres. And I don’t find many new releases that I’m looking for.

Just say no to monthly charges.
But on a more positive note, I finally figured out a way to buy new CDs and not deal with the recurring fees. I order the CDs that I want and then cancel my subscription after my shipment arrives. Whenever I want to buy more music then I reactivate my account and do it all over again.
