In Fall 2006, I came across a unique DVD at Best Buy while looking for something new to add to my cardio workout regimen called QuickFix Hip-Hop Cardio Workout. Well, as we know, hip-hop dancing isn't new to the aerobics scene these days, but this workout DVD was different in that all the individual workouts are 10 minutes each.

These short, choreographed, and fun-filled segments are lead by instructor, Juliane Arney. Juliane has been a choregrapher and fitness educator for a long time with other DVD credits such as, The Cardio Dance Floor video series and the Dance Off the Inches video series. In addition, Juliane was a top three finalist for 2004 IDEA Health and Fitness Association, Fitness Instructor of the Year. (Source: JulianeArney.com)

These ten-minute segments on QuickFix Hip-Hop Cardio are jam-packed with fun choreographed routines that Juliane breaks down for easy understanding and to make sure the steps are simple to do. Every step or set of steps are repeated several times in a row to help the viewer follow along. Juliane incorporates a lifeline into each 10-minute segment as well.

A lifeline in the QuickFix Hip-Hop Cardio DVD segments is one simple move that can be done throughout the entire time frame that keeps the heart rate at a decent pace, in case the viewer finds the other choreography a bit too tricky to follow.

There are four ten-minute segments on this particular DVD - each has it owns theme so to speak with moves that have a different degree complex steps to follow according to its theme. For instance, there's a Finding the Inner Dancer and a Low and Funky segment, the first for finding one's own inner dancer is very simple, easy dance steps. The funky segment has choreography that's a bit more complex, but just as fun and broken down for easy following, so it is do-able.

This workout DVD is perfect for anyone who don't have a lot of time at their disposal for exercise, but who wants to get a good workout in their schedule. When you do just one segment for ten minutes, there's a good feeling of accomplishment that comes along with it.

I'll have to get this one. I like an intense aerobic workout. I have a Richard Simmons DVD, but the moves are just too intricate to learn. Just when I'm getting one down really well, Simmons has moved on to another and left me behind. LOL
