Winchester Lake Lodge in Winchester, Idaho
The Thing to See in Winchester
For those of you who are familiar with the Palouse area, you really need to visit a small town in Idaho called Winchester if you haven't already. For those of you not familiar with the Palouse area, it is a region in the Northwestern United States thatAnd if you fall in the second category, you should also visit the town of Winchester on your trip to the Palouse. Winchester is located about 35 minutes Southeast of Lewiston, and has quite a history of being a mill/lumber down. Very little of the old mill remains there now, but there is a museum there that will reveal the history of the town, and it is quite extensive. The Museum of Winchester is available by appointment, for a small donation.
Of course, if you're going to visit the town of Winchester, you'll need a place to stay. I recommend the Winchester Lake Lodge. This place is located in the center of town, and is definitely pleasant accommodation.
Winchester Lake Lodge has four main rooms to stay. The first is the Eagle Log cabin, which is a one room place with a toilet, shower, bunk bed, and loveseat swing. There are two rooms that are linked to the main building, the Moose Room and Bear Room.
The biggest room at Winchester Lake Lodge is the Wolf Executive cabin. This is a fully furnished two room cabin with a full kitchen, Jacuzzi bath, a 32 inch television, a propane stove, as well as a washer and dryer.
The Winchester Lake Lodge has a definite homey touch. For example, the rooms are all decorated by their appropriate animal. For example, the Wolf room has stuffed wolves on the bed, and wolf tapestries.
The cost of the stay depends on the room. The Eagle log cabin is $50.00 a night, the Bear room is $60.00, the Moose Suite is $75.00, and the Wolf Executive Cabin is $100.00. There are also two stationary RV rentals for as low as $35.00 a night. Additional guests are $5.00 a night, winter rates (October through April, excluding holidays) are discounted by $10.00.
