Accupril is one of the most commonly prescribed high blood pressure medications in the country. It, along with a change in diet, exercise and drugs known as "water pills" (i.e. hydrochlorithiazide) can cause a healthy change in the blood pressure of a patient. How does it work in laymen's terms? In our blood there is a chemical called angiotensin I. It takes this chemical and changes it to a more significant form. This more significant and potent form allows your body to retain both salt and water more heavily than before. It then increases flow through your blood vessels, causing your high blood pressure to decrease.

Studies are now being done to see if Accupril causes any positive changes in those diagnosed with autism. Though the studies are very early, some say the results tend to be promising.

By increasing the salt and water retention, a doctor will prescribe Hydrochlorithiazide. Alone this is a diuretic, but together it is a powerful ingredient against the fight against blood pressure and congestive heart failure.
