Lowering Your Car Insurance Premiums

    Car insurance premiums can be quite a bit.  It is important that you shop around prior to deciding on a car insurance policy that works for you.  There are a variety of premiums out there, so it is important to know what you are looking for.  You insurer will ask you a variety of questions that may or may not affect your premium.  Knowing what will be asked and what will affect your premium is very important when it some to getting the lowest premium possible. 

    If you and your family own a large number of vehicles, or even two of them, it could really be to your benefit to make sure that they are all insured through the same insurer.  If you choose to take out insurance for your home and life insurance with the same insurer that you are using for your car insurance, it could really be to your benefit as well.  You may be able to qualify a “bulk buy discount.”

    Where you live determines what your premiums will be on your car insurance.  Obviously, if you live in an area that it will be likely for your car to be broken into or stolen it will be a very large concern for your insurer.  If you live in an urban area, your insurance will likely be more expensive, since the risk of your car being broken into or stolen is greater.  The insurer is also concerned about where you are parking your car at night.  If you are parking your car on a dark street or in a parking garage, your insurance is likely to be more costly than if you park your car in a secure, locked garage in a nice neighborhood.  This is also true if you are driving and expensive sports car.  The better your car is, the more expensive your insurance is going to be.  Whenever you are looking into buying a car, you need to take into account the cost of insurance on that vehicle.  You may be able to afford the car, but can you afford to legally drive it?
