In this part, we will look at the first steps of building an opt-in list.






Building an opt-in list is one of the important parts of running a business online. In fact, according to some of the top internet promoters, the opt-in list is one of the most important, if not the most important component of success online. An opt-in list is pretty much a list of people who have requested more information or agreed to receive updates/alerts from you. As such, an opt-in list can be a very good income generator. However, be aware that an opt-in list is NOT an advertising tool. Many people view an opt-in list as something to make money off of, and just inundate their members with offers and different programs. That is not what you should do with your opt-in list.






Your opt-in list is something to build up. The first thing you want to build is trust with them. Don't make the mistake of thinking that they are idiots who will buy whatever you want because you recommended it. Would you? I've had many marketers e-mail me, and it almost seems like they think I'm a cash vending machine and will just buy whatever they throw at me. Anyway, you want to give them valuable information in the mails, not a sales pitch. That's what builds trust. That way when you do recommend something, they'll look into it seriously, and not just delete it or write it off. More on that later, but for now, let's see how you can build a list.
