Every product has a popular name or a popular symbol that lets you identify with that product. Some have a signature scent or formula that gives you reason to purchase that product. While we may purchase a product based on its name, sometimes a name isn't always everything.

Shopping through Wal-Mart, in the shampoo and conditioner aisle, there are many varieties of shampoos and conditioners with popular names such as Suave, Dove, VO5, Tresseme, and more. A popular shampoo and hair product used in our household is the Garnier Fructis line. The product line is somewhat high when you are on a tight budget. The price is a little lower at the popular retail chain, Wal-Mart, but it is still fairly high when you don't have a lot of cash within the family budget.

In order to still get the same best results as Garnier Fructis shampoo and conditioner, there is another product that uses the same active ingredients, and has the same fruity smell. Equate Shimmer and Shine has equally created a product that is also "compared to Garnier Fructis." While a bottle of Garnier shampoo costs around four dollars per bottle, a bottle of Equate Shimmer and Shine shampoo is only $1.97 per bottle. They can usually be found in the same aisle, almost right next to each other at Wal-mart Super centers.

To compare both scents, if you smell a bottle of Garnier Fructis and a bottle of Equate Shimmer and Shine, the same fruity citrus scent is apparent in both products. Also the consistency is the same with the silky white liquid, and the ingredients also appear to be the same when reading the label as well. Active ingredients such as Vitamins B3 and B6, and also Fructose + Glucose are both found in these very similar hair care products.

Good to know. I use the Garnier now, but I think next time I'll try the Equate. I use several other things from that manufacturer anyway.

Great comparisons~ I use a lot of the Equate brands for many different things- When I worked for a major grocery store chain here I learned that all the grocery store brands were all made by regular labels- for instance Schwebel's bread made the store brand bread, just packaged it differently. And was half the cost. And people would spend twice as month thinking they were getting better bread! Ah!

Thanks for this review...I always used Garnier because my teenage daughter wants this. My test is going to be to keep the bottles and pour the equate shampoo in it and see if my teenager really knows the difference. Thanks for this!
