School of Scoundrels is one of the best movies that is out right now while most movie goers wait for the long awaited debut of the movie “Departed” that features many well know actors. School of Scoundrels only has one true big name which is Billy Bob Thornton and a semi-famous actor John Herder.

School of scoundrels is a comedy and has many funny parts indeed. The only sad thing is that many of the previews for the film give away many of the funny parts and as a viewer you know what is coming and it isn’t as funny. Still the movie is pretty funny overall and has a good storyline.

School of Scoundrels is about the life of the main character named Roger played by John Herder. Roger is a pathetic meter maid who gets picked on at work and gets rejected by young kids to be a big mentor. Altogether, Roger is seen as a loser by society. Roger’s life changes when he gets the number of a man named Dr. P, played by Billy Bob Thornton. Dr. P runs a class for people seen as losers by society like Roger and the class I s designed to help these men become “winners” in the eyes of society.

Here the film becomes funny as each man in the class has to do exactly what Billy Bob Thornton tells them like engaging people they hate at work in confrontations. This leads to many of the men getting beaten up. However, Roger gains confidence in an “every man for himself” paintball challenge when Roger takes down Thornton’s assistant named Lesure played by Michael Clark Duncan. He plays the role of the tough guy and is pretty funny.

As the story line continues, Roger goes out with the girl of his dreams and their relationship looks pretty steady until Dr. P decides to rise to the occasion and try to get Roger’s girlfriend for himself. He and Roger engage in a fierce competition to try and get the same girl even though Dr. P is married and several years older that Roger’s girlfriend. Dr. P then proceeds to make Roger’s life miserable including getting Roger fired from work.
