If you have an old wheelbarrow in your shed or garage that's collecting dust and turning into a catchall for odd and ends, put it to good use. Instead of storing it in a corner, you can use it in a number of creative and practical ways. Consider the following creative ways to use an old wheelbarrow. You'll free up much needed space while using an ordinary item for practical, decorative, and highly creative purposes.

Make a Portable Charcoal Grill

Do you need a new charcoal grill? Don't buy one. Make one using your old wheelbarrow! Drill ½ inch to ¾ inch holes approximately 6 inches apart in the bottom and the sides of the wheelbarrow, and use an old grate for the rack. If you can't find a grate from an old grill, buy a replacement rack of appropriate size. Use your wheelbarrow grill as you would any other charcoal grill. You'll be able to move it to any location, and it will work as good or better than any other charcoal grill. Best of all, you can take it on a road trip, and no matter where you use it, you'll be guaranteed to have the most unique and creative charcoal grill.

Use it for a Unique Flower Planter

Old wheelbarrows make fantastic flower planters. Drill small holes in the bottom, and line it with gravel for added drainage. Fill it with potting soil, and plant your favorite flowers and vines in this unique planter. Too much sun or shade won't be a problem since you'll be able to move this unique and creative planter to any location.

Make a Decorative Strawberry Planter

If you don't have room to grow the strawberry plants you've always wanted, consider using an old wheelbarrow. A wheelbarrow makes the perfect container for growing strawberry plants, and you will be astonished by how many berries are produced in this creative planter. They will spread each year, and eventually you'll be able to harvest enough strawberries to bake a luscious strawberry pie.

Refurbish it for the Kids

I don't have an old wheelbarrow, so I'm not sure what I would do with it if I had one. These are really good suggestions. I like the one about turning it into a charcoal grill. Sophie

One of the handles on my old wheelbarrow, broke off so I have made it into a big planter and placed it in the middle of my field. They really do make great planters and old rustic garden art.
