Halloween, What Does it Mean Today
Modern Fear and Hysteria

Halloween, what does it mean to the public and those who are forbidden to participate in the festivities. To the public, it is a time for the young to have fun going from house to house looking for treats. It is a time for the imagination to go wild and decorating the house to be as scary a place as possible. All in all, it is a time to be scared and have fun at the same time.At least that is what is used to be when I was a child and watching my own children and grandchildren enjoy. The media and hate mongers have pretty much removed the fun out of the day. Rather than having the house next door become the haunted house, the media has made the person down the street to be the most horrifying thing you can imagine. This is the person who you hardly ever see. Someone who wishes nothing more than to live his or her life the same as anyone else. This is a person who is more frightened of the children surrounding him or her than they are of him. Yet they are pointed out as being the troll or boogieman, evil incarnate.
For someone listed on the sex offender registry, Halloween means to lock all the doors, turn off all outside lights, stay in a room and not answer the door. In some areas, they are ordered by the police to report to jail for the duration of the holiday as they do not want them on the street. It is for the children they say. No one can imagine the horror they go through, the dread of what they will find in the morning. Has the house they live in been egged? Papered? Spray painted? Was the car keyed or other damage done? Why bother calling the police. They will do nothing, you're a sex offender and if your home or property is damaged or destroyed, so what.
The thing that few realize is that everyday is "Halloween". It will never end, never go away. Moving will do no good, the police will tell everyone where you now live, the horror continues. You just wait for someone to start shooting at the house or yourself. You have a family, wife and children. They can not participate in the festivities. You fear for their safety, no one else will including the police.
