Halloween, what does it mean to the public and those who are forbidden to participate in the festivities. To the public, it is a time for the young to have fun going from house to house looking for treats. It is a time for the imagination to go wild and decorating the house to be as scary a place as possible. All in all, it is a time to be scared and have fun at the same time.

At least that is what is used to be when I was a child and watching my own children and grandchildren enjoy. The media and hate mongers have pretty much removed the fun out of the day. Rather than having the house next door become the haunted house, the media has made the person down the street to be the most horrifying thing you can imagine. This is the person who you hardly ever see. Someone who wishes nothing more than to live his or her life the same as anyone else. This is a person who is more frightened of the children surrounding him or her than they are of him. Yet they are pointed out as being the troll or boogieman, evil incarnate.

For someone listed on the sex offender registry, Halloween means to lock all the doors, turn off all outside lights, stay in a room and not answer the door. In some areas, they are ordered by the police to report to jail for the duration of the holiday as they do not want them on the street. It is for the children they say. No one can imagine the horror they go through, the dread of what they will find in the morning. Has the house they live in been egged? Papered? Spray painted? Was the car keyed or other damage done? Why bother calling the police. They will do nothing, you're a sex offender and if your home or property is damaged or destroyed, so what.

The thing that few realize is that everyday is "Halloween". It will never end, never go away. Moving will do no good, the police will tell everyone where you now live, the horror continues. You just wait for someone to start shooting at the house or yourself. You have a family, wife and children. They can not participate in the festivities. You fear for their safety, no one else will including the police.

Takeaways
  • Halloween, what does it mean to the public and those who are forbidden to participate in the festive
  • For someone listed on the sex offender registry, Halloween means to lock all the doors,
  • There are thousands of children who are not going to have fun, the list keeps them from having a par

It really is the responsibilty of the parents to escort their children on Halloween. I believe it is so unfair to throw thousands of people and even children on the list...and then punish them all over again for what a few individuals did. Those individuals that really hurt children need to be judged one case at a time. Parents on the list, who are legally part of the community, should have the right to participate in ALL things with their children and protect them...the U.S. should be ashamed for heaping scorn & pain on sex-offender's families. None of us were raised to kick those who are down.

Where are the laws for the children of sex-offenders? Yes..A lot of sex offenders have children! Parents..take responsibility for your own children. If you are worried, get off your butts and go with them.

Actually do your home work... Gerald Turner (The Haloween Killer) of Fond du Lac, WisCONsin raped and killed Lisa Ann French in 1973, while she was trick or treating. Now get this... Jerry did not meet the criteria for the Predator Bill, which bears his name. As far as the registry goes, Jerry Lee Lewis would be on it too.

A worthy point to mention also, is that there has NEVER been a single case of a child being abducted or molested while trick or treating. Research it yourself and see. It's more propaganda and fear mongering to get people to give up rights under the "guise" of safety. There is absolutely no basis for this. With 600,000 people on the registry, all of Whom are "suppose to be so dangerous", how can the non-existence of arrests and reports on the history of Halloween be explained? More and more people are beginning to realize what a sham this whole thing is. And what about the thousands of children, yes children, who are on the "list" for playing doctor? No Halloween for those children, just for certain children? The SO registry is nothing but a three ring circus and a political science experiment. Hell, if Elvis were alive today he'd be on the registry too. Can you imagine a world without Elvis? If parents accompany their children trick or treating, which responsible parents should be do

The danger of lists is that they are either all-inclusive or all exclusive...there are those who deserve to be left alone, and there are those who are very dangerous who hide in plain sight because they are not on it. Lists are problematic at best.
