Belly dancing is more than a form of dance, it is also an art form, an art form that combines a fluid set of movements to the rhythm of music. In the last several years belly dancing has become an increasingly sought after style of dance to learn, and the filled to capacity belly dancing classes in Chicago can attest to the fact. Because of the movements and physical agility that is required to bellydance, dancers have begun to fuse belly dancing with other styles to create something new. In order to do that though, the art of belly dancing has to first be learned and developed.

In addition to learning belly dancing for its artistic value, belly dance instructors are seeing a flood of new students wanting to learn to dance because of the physical and entertainment value it provides. In order to bellydance, you need to have a strong core and then you learn to work the rest of the body. For several others, learning to belly dance, and continue bellydancing, is a form of entertainment. Classes are offered throughout Chicago that give you a taste of the dance with a group of friends to provide you with a night of fun

Here are two of the best schools, in my experience, to take belly dancing classes in Chicago. Each one approaches the dance from a different point of view, but both are extremely good at what they do.

Jasmin Jahal School of Dance
4037 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago
The lessons offered by the Jasmin Jahal School of Dance are personal and genuine. If you are looking into taking Belly Dancing for the physical, professional or recreational aspect, they handle it all and do a good job of it. As a rule of thumb, the belly dancing that is taught here is presented as an art form, so the style is very unique and genuine.

Classes are taught in group or private sessions and run for a twelve week semester. Workshops are offered to individuals who want to improve their dancing or learn a specific style of the dance. Tuition for a once a week semester is one hundred and fifty dollars, twice a week classes are two hundred and seventy five dollars. www.bestbellydancechicago.com

I've always thought that belly dancing would be a lot of fun to learn. Unfortunately they don't have lessons in my area as far as I know. Maybe I'll move to Chicago:) Great article!
