Your computer is made up of many parts. The common parts of a desktop computer would be your monitor or screen, the computer unit some people call a CPU, and your keyboard and mouse. Inside your CPU there are many other parts that come together to operate your computer. The main controller of your computer is called the Mother Board. All other items within the CPU plug into this Motherboard. A hard drive is where all of your programs and data are stored. The memory is how fast your computer can actually operate. Your computers processor is actually how fast it can think or process information. These are all the basic systems plugged into your MotherBoard.

There are also chips on the Motherboard that tell it how to operate. One of the most important chips on your Motherboard is called the Bios Chip. The Bios chip actually tells your Motherboard how to communicate with the other items plugged into it. It is the configuration of your Motherboard. It also keeps the time and date for your Motherboard. The Bios Chip is powered by a battery on the Motherboard. After the Bios your computer will begin to boot into the computer Operating System. The Operating System is loaded onto your hard drive. Microsoft Windows is more than likely your Operating System.

On the Motherboard are all the connectors needed to connect your keyboard, mouse, and monitor. The Motherboard and all its components are housed in a rectangular case. Unless your comfortable with computers you may be confused by all of the parts. Imagine your computers CPU like a brain. The Motherboard is like your nervous system, the Bios controls the nervous system, the processor is how fast you can think, the memory is how fast you can operate, the hard drive is where your data and information is stored, the Keyboard and Mouse is how you receive commands. Then the display is how you mainly output whats going on. Finally the Operating System tells all systems how to act, what to do, and all the instructions.
