There's a lot of new country stars on the horizon these days. It seems there's a new name and a new voice that are popping up daily. It makes it hard for even the most dedicated fan to keep up. Many of these stars come on strong with just one big hit and then they will fade.

Others hit the scene and establish themselves as the kind of stars with staying power.

Here are five of today's stars that are worth watching.

1. Taylor Swift. She didn't come on the scene with a big bang like some others, but she has a lot going for her. First, she's young. She's 16 years old. She's been featured on GAC's Short Cuts and that's given her some name exposure and introduced people to clips of her songs. Also, her first single is also one of the most recognizeable names in country music - "Tim McGraw".

The song is not about the star, but rather one of his songs, though it never mentions which song it is. The song is about a girl who has gone through a break up with her boyfriend and she's hoping that when he hears a Tim McGraw song, it reminds him of her and her favorite song. It's a powerful song, which was co-written by Swift. If that song is any indication, we can expect to hear more from this young lady.

2. Danielle Peck. She's coming on just like Shania Twain and Gretchen Wilson did. Her songs strike a chord with the women, and the men are hopelessly attracted to her. Her first single, "I Don't" was a ballad that has a lot of the powerful female attitude - proclaiming "Jesus love you, I don't." In the song, she is definately not the victim. She's over the guy and she's not even considering taking him back. her follow up - "Finding A Good Man" - was even bigger especially with the ladies. It's already being called the Girl's Night Out song of 2006. With a catchy chorus, even men can't help singing along to this one.
