This cat costume is the perfect Halloween costume for a little girl. You don’t even have to be able to sew to make this easy Halloween costume. I made mine in less than 2 hours and didn’t rush at all.

A black sweat suit or even a long sleeve black t-shirt and pants makes the basis for this easy homemade Halloween costume. I spent about $20 and even had left over materials for another craft project.

To Make A Homemade Cat Costume for a Little girl You Will Need:

1 Black Sweatshirt
1 Black Sweat Pants
Black Head Band
1 Yard of Black Felt
1 yard of white felt
1 yard of fake fur trim
Face Paints
1 Square of pink Felt
Pillow stuffing optional)
Fabric glue, no Sew or even your sewing machine

Just remember, you don’t have to make a black cat. White, yellow, and even a whimsical pink would be fun.

Start by cutting out a circle of white felt for the stomach of your cat. This is the easiest part of the whole Halloween costume. Simply measure how big the stomach is of your sweatshirt is, cut out the white felt circle, and glue it on with fabric glue.

Now, add a tail to the seat of your black sweat pants. No cat costume would be complete without a tail. You can cut it out of a long piece of black felt about 6 inches wide and about two feet long. Fold the fabric in half length wise. Use your no sew to seal the long edge as well as one short end. Turn the cat tail inside out and stuff with cotton fluff. Fold in the open edges and seal them shut with no sew. I recommend sewing this on to the seat of the cat pants with a real needle and thread, but you can use no sew. It may not last forever though. For a simple and light weight tail you could cut off a two foot long piece of fake fur and no sew it to the seat of the pants.

To create cat ears cut out two large triangles out of the black felt for the ears. Cut out two slightly smaller triangles out of the pink felt. Glue the pink felt inside of the back triangles with fabric glue. Use a glue gun to attach the ears to the black head band.

Now, cut out 5 pieces of fluffy fake fur. Two pieces should wrap around the wrists of the sleeves, two should wrap around the ankles of the pants, and one piece should warp around the neck of the cat costume shirt.
