Most dads cook from time to time, even if they aren't addicted to grilling. A personalized apron is a usable gift, that any dad will where with pride. To make a personalized Fathers Day apron you will need:
A solid colored apron
Fabric paint
Fabric paint pen
Paint brush
Old newspaper
Soap and Water handy
Start by lying the apron on a flat surface. Next using the fabric paint pen, or paint brush loaded with fabric paint, write the name of the person receiving the gift, on the chest of the apron. Allow the name to dry for at least 30 minutes before you continue, this will help prevent any accidental smears. Once the name is dry paint the child's hand with fabric paint. Have the child press their hand onto a old piece of newspaper, this will remove access paint. After they have presses their hand on the newspaper once, have them press their hand on the apron. The end result is a beautiful personalized apron, with their child's hand prints.
TIPS:
If you have more the one child, have each child apply a right, and left painted hand print.
Once the hand prints are dry you can right the child's name on the print, or little messages such as love, #1 Dad. and so on if you think the apron needs a little extra touch.
You can also use this technique on other fabric items such as place-mats, beach towels, and more.
Be sure to use fabric paint, so that the fabric can be washed after use, and not damaged.
