Jon & Kate Plus 8 is the reality TV show starring Jon & Kate Gosselin and their 3-year-old sextuplets and 6-year-old twins. One of the reasons Jon & Kate Plus 8 has taken off is Kate: pretty, but nasty - mainly to her poor husband who just takes it. But Kate has also been known to have meltdowns at her sextuplets and twins. Jon & Kate Plus 8 involves reams of video footage, and it's often suggested that Jon & Kate Plus 8 is edited to make Kate look like a histrionic hyper neurotic.

I tuned in again to Jon & Kate Plus 8, and often, Kate comes across as quite reasonable and calm. In fact, you never know when she's going to erupt. Kate fans insist that her stress levels justify her temper tantrums. But just how much stress are we talking here? Jon & Kate Plus 8 has shown at least two episodes following Kate's experience at an all-day spa. This reality TV show gives Kate lots of perks, people. Without the perks, the show wouldn't be nearly as interesting! You KNOW she's getting lots of luxury perks.

The family goes on all sorts of ventures, live in a house, and they get all sorts of help with the housework and childcare -- a lot more than the average single mother in America who goes to sleep each night in a state of panic worrying how to pay the bills and wondering how she's going to explain to her kids Santa won't be visiting them when Christmas season rolls around. (Can you imagine the mountain of presents that will be under the Gosselin Christmas tree next Christmas?)

In this particular episode, Kate explains to the interviewer that there are no scripts, no rehearsals, no staging; it is all genuine and for real. This is a selling point for Jon & Kate fans; they love the reality.

Kate explained that the kids think it's normal for there to always be camera crews around. Jon & Kate choose this lifestyle; their kids don't. Only time will tell if Jon & Kate's kids will suffer emotionally as a result of waking up and going to sleep with camera crews in their house.

As a veteran elementary teacher (26 years and still counting) I applaud Kate for her parenting skills. She makes each child feel very special and treats each one as an individual with unique personality traits. She is very loving to her children. I know very few parents who go to the trouble to prepare holiday celebrations for their children the way that she does and to create happy memories for them by starting family traditions. I was impressed by the lunches she made for the twins on the first day of school with the healthy foods that were packed and keeping in mind what each girl liked and disliked. Then, to top it off with a note of encouragement for them was just something that only a loving mother would think to do. Imagine how special her daughters felt at lunch time! I raised an only child and I never thought about doing things like that. These kids are being raised in a Christian home. What difference does media exposure and marital spats make when you are so loved?

As a psychologist (child), I worry about Madeline; she exhibits actions toward the six that indicate a serious problem. Jon and Kate do not seem to address this issue, rather, they often dismiss Madeline's behavior as "she's a free spirited child." No, Jon and Kate, she's more than that; please get her some professional help.

Good Gawd!!!! Perks??? The critics remind me of two drunks leaving a resturant bar, with car keys in hand, telling each other they shouldn't be driving. I had 2 children 2 years apart and it almost drove me crazy. I can't imagine how anyone could have the gall to judge this couple. I haven't seen anyone complain about how much money the network exec's make off this show and they don't have to deal with 8 kids! They don't sugar coat life and I loved it when one of the kids farted in the barrel at the play gym. Jon was hilarious. I'm really surprised that no one has criticized them for allowing the kids to fart on tv...LOL They are doing the best they can. Simple as that! Bring on the perks. They deserve every single one of them!

You said it all Patsy!! I'm glad they "have it made financially" . They can give those kids what they need and then some. I also think Kate isn't as dumb as everyone has said. I think she is a savy business woman who knows how to financially give those kids what they need without totally exploiting them. Those kids seem like all around happy kids with your typically bad behavior. I don't think they are going to grow up serial killers or sitting on a psychiatrist's couch when they are adults. If anything, the crew seems to love them and are rather gentle with them. The commentor Patsy said it all right!!!!! You go girl. I hope the writer of this article was just trying to get a rise out of her readers and to get a good discussion going. Otherwise, that is pretty sad.

OH MY GOD! I have never in my life (63 years) read so much sanctimonious, holier-than-thou bullcrap! If Jon were unhappy with his situation and his marriage, he wouldn't still be there. Kate is certainly no Mary Poppins, but she"s not Lucretia Borgia, either. All these nit-picky hypercritical jerks who have all this time to microscopically pick apart and psychoanalyse EVERY SINGLE WORD and NUANCE in EVERY SINGLE EPISODE must indeed live very lonely and uneventful lives. Where do they find all that extra time and what are their credentials that qualify them to be such experts on how every single person "should" or "should not" behave?

One of my favorite non-phony Kate moments was when she took Jon to the Florida Keys for his 30th birthday and he kept telling her to put sunscreen on. She didn't take his advice and got a lobster degree sunburn/sun poisoning. She looked great in her swimsuit, her tummy tuck worked out great. Kate might be no phony but what a dumbass.

I LOVE kate, because like herself, I am also OCD, i have to have the house picked up always, and i freak out at my husband, if he doesnt jump, when i say jump. So i think her actions are justifiable. For god sakes, she is a mother of eight. I am a mother of one, and I myself, is always stressed, worried, and paranoid, that this is affecting my child or my husband. But in reality, it just shows that we are a loving supportive family, just like the Gosselings. Me and my daughter love the show. I hope it never ends. I want to see those kids grow up. mommyofone

Wow. Don't you think you're being slightly judgmental? One thing I was taught is that "thou without sin cast the first stone". In my opinion, I think editing has much to do with the way she comes off. I've had meltdowns at me husband MANY times. Of course the show is going to add the most interesting parts. I personally would hate my every move video taped and then boiled down into 30 minutes of my "finest" moments. Also, why would you even mention the freebees their family gets from the show? As far as I'm concerned, they are working for what they get. Who cares if they get some cool stuff? They were chosen to be taped and agreed to it. The job has some perks! Do you expect them to do it for free while the network rakes in millions of dollars? The 5,000 it cost to send them to Disney is tiny considering what the network is making. Maybe instead of teaching your family to hate people that have something they don't have, you should teach them to be thankful for what they do
