The climate and weather in Italy is greatly affected by its overall topography. Italy reaches from Mont Blanc, which is located within the Alps Mountain range, in the northern region past the Dolomites Mountain Range. Additionally, Italy has the Adriatic Sea located in the eastern region and the Mediterranean Sea located in the Southern region. As one might expect, the temperature ranges are extremely varied in Italy. The Mountain regions tend to remain chilly and cold. The plains and hills tend to remain hot and dry with a wide variety of daily temperatures.

Overall Climate

The overall climate of Italy is beautiful. The Mountain ranges tend to protect the majority of the country from temperature extremes and cold winds. You can expect some fog during the winter in the centre areas of the country. However, there are mild winters in the southern regions.

The mountain regions of Italy are ideal for ski vacations. There are some excellent properties available in these regions because so many tourists enjoy time on the mountain slopes engaged in winter sports. You can find some beautiful alpine ski resorts to spend hours of adventures on the slopes while taking in the beautiful scenery and natural wildlife.

Coastal Regions

Enjoy time on the romantic beaches and savouring fine Italian cuisine. The costal regions experience an occasional thunderstorm but are great for experiencing Italian culture and spending a romantic holiday with your sweetheart. The winters are extremely mild in the southern regions and make ideal property locations for retirement homes, buy-to-let and vacation villas.
