New Kids on the Block Reunite

They were the hottest music sensations out there. In their day, the New Kids on the Block ruled all. They paved the way for the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC and were one of the first boy bands to dominate the airwaves. Now, no longer kids, NKOTB will reunite for a

tour and new album very soon. The 5 members, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood and Joey McIntyre have all gone their separate ways, some putting out solo records, and others walking away from the music business completely, have all been approached previously for a possible reunion. In the past, they have shot down the suggestions, but finally the time has come. This year will mark 20 years since "Hangin' Tough" was released.

The New Kids on the Block are not the first band to reunite after a long hiatus. This past year, three classic bands got back together for an extended tour. The Police put their differences aside and embarked on a world tour that has spanned nearly 2 years. They criss-crossed world twice, and will finally close out their tour in August on Long Island. It had been 25 years since their final album was released, and the Police showed no signs of rust. I personally saw them on tour when they played Madison Square Garden, and it was truly an exhilarating concert. They showed an exorbitant amount of energy and gave their classic songs new life.

A second band that got back together this past year was Genesis. Originally, the band members wanted to re-create "The Lamb Lies on Broadway" album with the 5 original members, but Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett ultimately did not participate, so Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford went out as a three-piece band and played their top hits and some obscure tracks on their world tour.
