The New Jersey Food and Wine Report, Vol. 1: The Best Bars in New Brunswick PART 1

Wow, this is really exciting stuff. I've been doing prep work for my new series, The New Jersey Food and Wine Report, for a really long time. Sure, in this case, my prep work may have involved going out to New Jersey
bars and getting drunk, and I probably would have done this anyway, but work is work, you know? I've been drinking in New Brunswick since I transferred there in 2001. I was underage at the time, but I lived in the same building of a guy who was cool enough to get us into the bar he used to bounce at. And this is where my guide begins…

-The Corner Tavern

Let me preface this my saying that the Corner Tavern totally sucks now. It didn't a few years ago, but every time I've been there since 2004, every facet of this establishment has sucked. So why is it on this list. Two words.. po tential. There's a giant downstairs portion with a full stage that they never utilize. They've got two pool tables, a kick ass shuffleboard and a jukebox. There are plenty of tables and booths. It has a nice "look" to it. So what's the problem here? Oh, I remember… The over-priced drinks taste like dust because they don't clean their glasses and the shitty beer tastes like vomit because they don't clean their taps. If this place got their shit together it could be awesome.

-The Ale N' Wich

Wow, what a classy place, a trendy, classy place. It really is. Of course, I'm talking about the good ole Ale N' Wich tavern (peep their MySpace page at myspace.com/alenwich). People have told me that this is a gay bar and I was all like, "So?" Dudes need a safe place to make out with each other just like "straight" folk. It doesn't make the bar any less "cool". Sure, drinks are too pricey and the crowd can be a little pretentious, but on any given night you might spot the famous local celebrity Wook #17. Good times.

Great report, on all of 3 bars. One Word... LAME!!! You didn't even mention 1 dollar yuenglings and the exciting teusday atmosphere at the olive branch in Brunswick. Maybe if you weren't too busy reviewing gay bars then you'd have a second to really sit down at a good one and have a properly priced 1 dollar yuengling. Or coors light for you lighter drinkers. :)
Wow. If this is the 'People's Media' then the people are idiots and poor writers. Please continue writing for a dung site that no one reads.
mccormicks is pretentious? you really are a fragile little twit.
