This is a time of chaos, disorder, distrust, stress, fear and extremely poor economic times. All of these elements add to the personal stress of individuals to the point of quite possibly causing physical illnesses and distress in ones’ life. How does one regain the peace of ones’ soul, the center of well being, the ultimate escape and rejuvenation from the madness of today’s’ fast paced society? How does one avoid buy in into the stressful environment that is present in most organizations that carry over into ones’ personal and family life?

There are many paths to renewal; it is simply a personal choice. Whether one chooses a formal structured exercise program or something as simple as a daily walk, the release involved in the physical exertion is beneficial to the body and mind.
Reading is a good form of escape from the daily stress of life. Reading has the ability to transport one to a different space and time leaving behind all problems and preoccupation with negative thoughts. The choice of genre is irrelevant. The goal is simply to read something that is enjoyable and allows the escape to another place, time, scene or moment far away from daily life.

Meditation is a healthy form of renewal in that one learns to calm and center oneself through being quiet and eliminating all thoughts. Lighting a candle, soft music in the background, the sound of chimes can be added to this practice simply depending on ones’ personal choice.

Yoga is a form of exercise and meditation that stretches the body, teaches breathing exercises and increases flexibility and concentration. Yoga has recently reentered itself on the exercise circuit and has become very popular again.

Takeaways
  • Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of quiet and deep breathing exercises to renew oneself.
  • If you don't slow down to take care of yourself, you wil eventually break down.
  • Take control by releasing control and just trust in a higher source.
