If you are looking for that special gift for Mother's Day this year, create a memory box. It's quick and easy and guaranteed to be remembered for a lifetime. This gift is fantastic as a group gift for Mom, especially for a family of adult children.

Begin by contacting all the children and selling them the idea of creating a memory box for Mother's Day. Each child is responsible for writing down one or two special memories of times spent with Mom. You may wish to include more, if time and inspiration allows.

Once the memories have been written down, it's time to think about their presentation. Small mementos to accompany the memory are a nice addition to the box. Perhaps a tiny sea shell to accompany a memory from the beach. A small photo, or print, to represent an event is also nice.

Scrapbook supply stores offer a wide range of decorative items that you can use to embellish the individual memories.

Don't worry that your memories are not "big enough" for the project. The memory of lying in the grass and finding pictures in the clouds or walking down a wooded path listening to the birds, or even the time Mother punished you for something you didn't do are all excellent choices for this walk down memory lane. It's not about who has the best memories to share. It's about real memories from a lifetime spent together.

Memories can be written on index cards, stationary, or even plain paper. You could certainly type the memories, if you wish. As a Mom myself, I can tell you that memories written in my children's handwriting would add a special touch on Mother's Day.

Place the memories in a small box that is easy to open and close, Mom will want to look at them often. An old shoebox or cigar box will work just fine. Cover the box with fabric or decorative paper.

For a more elaborate box that is a guaranteed to please any mom, cut brightly colored words from magazines that represent your mom. Think about what your mother is really like and use those words to completely cover the box. Vary the size, font, and color of these clipped words. Consider words that describe her hobbies, likes, and personality traits.
