Like many other Americans, I fell victim to the advertisements and promotions for the Special K Challenge. So, I went out and bought the cereal, snack bars, and waffles and began my rather short journey on the Special K experience. The diet plan on the back of the Special K Cereal box
consists of three steps:

Step 1 (breakfast) : Cereal and skim milk with fruit or Special K Waffles with light syrup and fruit.

Step 2: (lunch or dinner): Protein Meal Bar or Special K Cereal with skim milk and fruit.

Step 3: (lunch or dinner): Normal meal

Snacks: 2 Special K snacks (Protein Snack Bars, Protein Waters and Mixes, Cereal Bars, or Snack Bites. They do encourage to consume fruits and vegetables for additional snacks and drink beverages as you normally do.

For breakfast, I began having cereal with 1% milk or the regular Special K Waffles. Then, for lunch, I had a Special K Cereal Bar, an apple or banana, and water. I had another snack bar before dinner and then, I ate a full dinner. Unfortunately, I lasted about a week on this diet, and the waffles, cereal, and bars lie waiting for a consumer in my kitchen. I would like to share five of the faults I found with the Special K Challenge that led to my unsuccessful attempt to lose weight.

1. The waffles were rubbery and tasteless, especially without butter.

2. After going to two major grocery stores in my area, I could not find the Special Protein Meal Bar.

3. The cereal bars, although only 90 calories, could literally be eaten in 4 bites, so they were not filling in the least. Also, they only contain 1 gram of protein.

4. Because lunch was so light, I would be starving by the time it was dinner. Therefore, I would gorge myself, eating more than I normally would for dinner. Now, I could have switched the lunch and dinner menu. Who wants cereal for dinner, though, when everyone else is eating steak?

5. The cereal bars tasted very sweet. So, I would want something with salt or something healthy like vegetables after I ate a bar.

Interesting diet! I don't know if I'd try it (don't have much weight to lose at the moment), but I like cereals, so if I ever need to shed a few pounds I might just try this. Thanks for sharing your experience! :o)
