Possible Running Mates for Barack Obama

Barack Obama will most likely be the democratic presidential candidate in the 2008 election. He represents change, hope, and equality. He harps on the positives instead of the negatives. As November becomes closer, Barack Obama's running mate can make or break has campaign. He should choose someone who has similar values, but also has their own ideas and thoughts about what should be done.

1. Hilary Clinton is a name that often comes up when discussing who will be the vice presidential nominee. To many democrats, it would be a dream to see Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton on the same ticket. It would really unify the party; especially after all of the campaigning to become the democratic presidential nominee. Hilary Clinton would really rally up support from old school democrats, while Barack Obama rallies up young democrats in record numbers. They both have similar ideas on healthcare, education, and the war in Iraq. The only flaws that would prevent this match made in heaven are Hilary's likability factor and her ego. Hilary Clinton is a polarizing politician and I am not sure she is humble enough to settle for vice president.

2. Mike Bloomberg, the Mayor of New York City, Would be an excellent running mate for Barack Obama as well. He shares Barack's "can do" attitude and optimism. He also has a likability factor that trumps Hilary Clinton. Bloomberg has plenty of experience as a politician and businessman and he would bring a lot to the table when discussing economic issues. Bloomberg would also rally up support from impendent voters. John McCain has a lot of support from independents, so this could be vital!
