Polka dots are undeniably one of the cutest themes in paper crafting. This adorable polka dot balloons birthday card is incredibly simple to create, and is sure to warm the heart of that special friend or family member.

For this project, you will need:

- Lime green cardstock

- Scarlet red cardstock

- 7 Gypsies "5th Avenue" Print Scrapbook Paper (found in stores or online at Paper Addict)

- 7 Gypsies "Soho Adelaide" Print Scrapbook Paper (found in stores or online at Paper Addict)

- Scissors

- Pencil

- Black ink pen

- Typewriter style mounted rubber stamps spelling "Happy Birthday"

- Black ink pad

- Dimensional glue

- Stylus or a bent paper clip

- Elmer's glue stick

Start this paper craft project by folding the lime green cardstock into a greeting card shape. This step can be omitted if you have purchased a pre-made greeting card base at a local craft or scrapbook paper shop. (These kits can be very useful and often come with their own matching envelope.)

Lay the 7 Gypsies "5th Avenue" Print Scrapbook Paper flat on your work area. With a pencil, trace a "balloon" shape onto the paper. (This is an oval shape with a small square at one end.) Repeat with two more balloon shapes. Cut these shapes out using scissors. Repeat this step with 7 Gypsies "Soho Adelaide" Print Scrapbook Paper.

Arrange the balloon paper shapes on the front of the lime green card pace. (It is okay if the balloon shapes overlap each other.) Attach the shapes to the card using an Elmer's glue stick. Dry completely. Use the black ink pen to draw "strings" coming from the balloon shapes.

Place the scarlet red cardstock flat on your work area. Using the typewriter style mounted rubber stamps and a black ink pad to spell "Happy Birthday" onto the paper. Cut out each letter individually. Glue the letters to the front of the greeting card.

Apply a bit of dimensional glue to the first letter. Spread towards the edges using a stylus or a bent paper clip. Repeat with the remaining letters. Allow the card to drive overnight.

Add your favorite sentiment to the inside of the card using a black ink pen and give.

Takeaways
  • Use regular cardstock or a pre-made greeting card base.
  • Feel free to vary the polka dot design, or even use stripes or checks.
  • The only limit in this card is that of your imagination, so be creative!
