I was out running around and was sitting in the car, waiting on the red light to turn green to proceed when I noticed a Brother standing on the side of the road with a sign that said, Homeless will work for food. Any and all work accepted. Please! Unfortunately I am one of those people that was born with a conscience, and is affected by situations like this. It's got to be difficult being homeless, particularly in Southern California where everything is so expensive, and the difference in being homeless can be one paycheck. And believe me that is real in most cities now and in many peoples' lives. Besides, I believe in "paying it forward" in whatever way I can.

I was about to go into one of my favorite stores to pick up some candles, incense, and some things to get organized because what they had at the office supply was not aesthetically pleasing to my senses. In essence, it was a basic crap run, all things I could live with out, but things I wanted. As I sat at the light I thought about how every day this week I have received a blessing one way or another. I looked at this man who appeared to be a proud person, willing to work, just temporarily down on his luck. It broke my heart. As I passed him, I slowed down, rolled down the window and handed his some cash. He thanked me and I responded, "Blessings Brother, stay safe." All I kept thinking about in my head was no matter how little I may have had, someone else had a lesser amount and as a human being, it is my responsibility to share or "pay it forward." That is after all how we all acquire what we acquire, someone, somewhere shared knowledge, something tangible, or simply bestowed a gift upon us. We are to do the same.

Takeaways
  • Do the same or similar good for someone else that someone has done for you.
  • Always remain in a state of gratitude.
  • Find a way to give back to society.
