My fiancé and I recently visited this restaurant with another couple for a weekend dinner. None of us had ever been there, so it was a new experience for all of us. It is located on the corner of 16 Mile Road/Metro Parkway and Van Dyke. Upon entering the restaurant, we could tell it was very classy. It was dimly lit and decorated very tastefully. A hostess greeted us and asked if we had reservations, which we did not. We were told it would be about a 45 minute wait until they would have a table available for the four of us, so we could have a seat in the lounge area (bar) in the mean time. The atmosphere in there was very nice as well. There were several low set tables in there with big comfortable chairs that were green leather. The chairs were just as low to the floor as the small tables were. The bartender came to our table and took our drink orders. I ordered a mix drink and it was perfect tasting. We were so comfortable in the bar seating that by the time they had a table ready for us, we were ready to stay in the bar, but we couldn't.

Upon entering the eating area of the restaurant, we were sat at a cloth covered table. The other female and I both had out chairs pulled out for us by the waiter and pushed in for us as we sat down. Our cloth napkins were put on our laps for us as well. There were fresh cut flowers in a vase on the table as well. All the wait staff were dress in black suits and were Italian with the accent to go along with it. We were all given glasses of water and menus when we were seated. After ordering, we were given a bread basket. Our appetizers came out after we had time for our bread to settle. We all had salads with our entrées. For an additional fee, you could get a Caesar salad that came in an edible bowl made of cheese, which is what we all chose. It was delicious and like nothing we had seen at any other restaurant. After having time for our salads to digest, our entrées were brought out. The plates were very appealing to the stomach as well as the eye. Everyone loved what they ordered. It was authentic tasting. We ordered dessert as well and that even came out in a timely manner so that our dinner could settle and digest as well.

Takeaways
  • Fine Italian Dining

Sound like the kind of pace I like too! No reason to rush when it comes to Italian food.

Nice tip about a dress code. No one wants to feel under dressed! Classy joints definitely need to keep those ceiling tiles looking nice.
