Weight Watcher's Smart Ones Frozen meals and Stouffer's pre-packaged Frozen meals are relatively close to each other on the weight management scale. Both offer meals proportionately sized according to calories and both are designed to fill the belly but which one is the better choice? Here is my comparison of Weight Watcher's Smart Ones Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes and Stouffer's Creamy Chipped Beef.

Weight Watchers Smart Ones Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes vs. Stouffer's Creamy Chipped Beef Review: Taste.

Between the meatloaf and mashed potatoes and the creamy chipped the chipped beef won hands down. I expected the cream to be bland but it surprised me in that it was full of flavor.

The meatloaf in comparison was not all that great. It was rather thick and somewhat stringy. Had Weight Watchers chosen to put a simple brown gravy over it, it might have been better. What they are calling brown gravy really tastes like tomato juice. The mashed potatoes were alright. They were very light on flavor and if it weren't for the salt I added to them they may not have had any flavor at all.

Weight Watchers Smart Ones Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes vs. Stouffer's Creamy Chipped Beef Review: Portions.

Again, Stouffer's chipped beef is the better of the two choices. The plastic pouch the chipped beef is packaged in is very misleading. Once heated up and served over whole wheat toast it filled up my plate. There was more than enough chipped beef for one person.

I found the portion of meatloaf to be too large considering the amount of mashed potatoes included. As someone who likes to dip my meatloaf in my mashed potatoes I discovered I was left with extra bites of meatloaf and not enough potatoes. All in all the meal filled up my stomach but not nearly as much as the chipped beef did.

Takeaways
  • Weight Watchers Smart Ones meals are more expensive than Stouffer's.
  • Stouffer's meals are not necessarily weight management meals.
  • There is more chipped beef than there is meatloaf.

interesting. i don't think i'd try the meatloaf- but i have been trying some of the portion-controlled frozen foods, in an effort to eat more healthily.

Great comparison review. I don't buy much frozen food but do like the Stouffers' products.
