2008 NCAA Championship Game: Kansas Vs Memphis
The 2008 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship Game will feature the Memphis Tigers (38-1) facing the Kansas Jayhawks (36-3) in San Antonio, Texas. The Memphis Tigers beat the UCLA Bruins in the Final Four 78-63. The Bruins have been to three straight Final Fours
United States of America but have ended up with zero championships.
The Kansas Jayhawks cruised past the North Carolina Tar Heels 84-66. The Tar Heels were young and hungry. They have added talent for next season such as Tyler Zeller so the Tar Heels could be a force to deal with for years to come. Kansas and Memphis are both coming off of impressive wins over number one seeds to reach the Finals. I predicted against both teams, and both teams responded by destroying my brackets.
Even though the Memphis Tigers hail from Conference USA they deserve a lot of respect they are 38-1. The Tigers only loss came against Tennessee (31-5) by a mere 4 points. Memphis also collected quality wins against UCONN, Georgetown, Oklahoma, Cincinnati, Arizona, and Gonzaga. In the Big Dance the Tigers beat UT-Arlington, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Texas and UCLA to get their deserving spot in the Finals. The Memphis Tigers are led by Chris Douglas-Roberts 17.7 PPG and Derrick Rose 14.6 PPG. Chris Douglas-Roberts led the Tigers against UCLA scoring 28 points and Rose had 25. The question mark is will Derrick Rose be able to play at 100% after suffering a stomach bug?
The Kansas Jayhawks may have had an easier road to the finals defeating Portland State, UNLV, Villanova, Davidson and UNC to reach their spot in the Finals. However one must remember Davidson was this year's surprise team in the tournament knocking off powers such as Georgetown, Gonzaga, and Wisconsin. The Jayhawks showed everyone they deserved to be in the finals by defeating fellow number 1 seed UNC 84-66. Kansas is led by Brandon Rush 13.1 PPG, Darrell Arthur 12.7 PPG, Mario Chalmers 12.7 PPG and Darnell Jackson 11.2 PPG.
