How to Make Healthy Brownies

Who doesn't love brownies? Whether you like them fudgy or cakey, brownies are truly a decadent treat. Unfortunately, this delicious dessert is loaded with fat, calories, and sugar. If only we could make healthy brownies....... Guess what? You can! Healthy brownies are easy to make,
you just need a few simple substitutes. In this article, I'll teach you how to make this classic dessert into a healthy treat.

The first step to preparing healthy brownies is to substitute half the flour. Just substituting half of the regular flour for whole wheat flour will make your brownies healthy. Whole wheat flour adds protein and fiber. Imagine getting fiber and protein from a dessert as decadent as brownies.

The second step is to substitute the eggs. For your healthy brownies, I suggest using an egg substitute, such as Egg Beaters. Egg Beaters are cholesterol free, fat-free, and very low in calories. Just check the package to see how much of the egg substitute needs to be used to equal the amount of whole eggs in your recipe.

The third step to preparing healthy brownies is to use unsweetened chocolate. Some recipes call for semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate. By using unsweetened, you cut calories because there is less sugar. This will require you to use more sugar substitute in your recipe, but there is a healthy way to sweeten your brownies.

The fourth step is to substitute the sugar for a healthy alternative. Splenda is a calorie free sweetener that tastes almost identical to real sugar. It's perfect for baking and won't change the flavor of your recipe. If you prefer, Splenda also makes a product that is half sugar and half Splenda. The choice is yours.

The last step to making healthy brownies is to prepare a topping. Personally, I think you can't go wrong with organic peanut butter and mini dark chocolate chips. These flavors are the perfect contrast to your healthy brownies. Plus, who doesn't love peanut butter and chocolate? If you like, you can also serve your healthy brownies warm with fat-free vanilla ice cream, a sugar-free hot fudge sauce, and a fat-free whipped topping.

i wouldn't recommend using splenda-- there are better ways to make things healthy than exchanging sugar for chemicals. try replacing eggs or even butter for applesauce, thats always a good healthy trick!
