The Best Homemade Slime

Boys and girls love to play with gooey gross slimy gunk, and all different types, colors, and varieties are available in the toy department of almost every discount store and toy store. Instead of buying overpriced containers of slime for kids, you can have fun making it. Homemade slime is just as good or better than store-bought slime, and best of all; you can add food coloring or tempera paint to make every gross and disgusting color of slime imaginable. You can even add a few extra goodies to make it even more gross and repulsive!

Necessary Ingredients

For a large batch of homemade slime you'll need two and one-half tablespoons of powered borax. You'll find it in the laundry section of most stores. You'll also need two and two-thirds of a cup of warm water, a separate cup of cool water, two cups of white school glue, and about four tablespoons of tempera paint in a color of your choice, or enough gel food coloring to adequately color the slime. In addition, you will require a container with a tight-fitting seal so it doesn't dry up.

Procedure

Begin by combining the cool water with the glue and colorant. Next, in a separate bowl, combine the borax with the warm water. Slowly pour the glue mixture into the borax mixture, but don't stir the two mixtures with a spoon. Just roll the glue mixture gently around in the borax mixture. It will magically turn into a ball of slime when placed in the warm water and borax.

Remove the slime ball from the bowl, and knead it for several minutes. Place it in an air-tight container and it will last for weeks.

Add a Few Extras

For added fun, try adding a few gross items. Consider adding small plastic flies, worms, spiders, centipedes, or eyeballs. Visit your local toy store for miniature snakes and all kinds of other creepy crawly items that can be added to the homemade slime. It will make already disgusting goop even more fun and repulsive.
