Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - a Frank Review

The Bumpy Ride Continues

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second smashing fantasy adventure film in this cinematic series based on the novels of J.K Rowling. Chamber of Secrets was released in November of

2002 and was directed by returning director Chris Columbus. Followers of the series will easily recognize most of the cast including the three child stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. Sadly this is the last film with Richard Harris as Dumbledore. And even more sadly
for us fans the last film so far that Chris Columbus directed in the series. Chris understands kids and magic in way that few adults do and it shows in his works of art. This film did very well at the box office assuring a third will not be far behind.

The film opens up with Harry Potter and his owl familiar staying with his aunt and uncle on summer vacation. A small creature quaintly named Dobby pops in his room and gives the good Harry Potter a dire warning. 'Do Not Return to Hogwarts This Fall for Terrible Danger Lies in Wait for You.' Even though the little creature looked about as silly as a wet cat I still remember the shiver that went up my spine as those fateful words were spoken. Dobby being the nuisance he is causes Harry Potter to get locked in his room under the stairs until he is rescued by two fellow students from the Weasley family. Harry grabs his owl and off they go on a wild ride in a flying car. Harry stays with the Weasley's for the rest of the summer and then its off to Hogwarts for the fall where the 2 boys meet up with their third partner in crime Hermione Granger.
