Vintage coffee cans are a fun accessory to decorate a hip and retro kitchen with. You can use vintage coffee cans in a variety of ways in your retro kitchen.
So, whether you have some valuable vintage coffee cans or retro looking new coffee cans, check out these fun ideas for
decorating your retro kitchen.
Vintage Coffee Can Décor #1: Can Light
Try taking your vintage coffee can and turn it into a fun light cover for your ceiling light in the kitchen. All you need to do is drill a hole in the bottom of the can.
This hole needs to be as large as the screw that holds the glass globe on your existing light. You will be hanging this upside down and the light will shine out of it.
Tip: You may want to use a low watt bulb or a frosted bulb so this is not a glaring light. You can also do this same idea and use it as a lampshade with a retro look as well.
Vintage Coffee Can Décor #2: Planters
One of my favorite ways to create a vintage feel in a retro kitchen is to turn coffee canisters into planters. To do this measure the size of your vintage coffee cans. Find plastic cups or plastic plant pots that will slide into them.
Now, plant your herbs and flowers in the small pots like normal, then slide them into the coffee cans. Be sure to water them separately and make sure they are dry so they do not cause the vintage e metal cans to rust in your kitchen.
Vintage Coffee Can Décor #3: Organize
Finally, if you have some retro coffee cans that you do not mind drilling through, then out can create some fun vertical storage with them.
In the back top of each coffee can. This should be about 2 inches down from the top. Now, take a screw and slip a washer onto it. Slide the over the hole and screw the long screw into the wall.
You can use toggle bolts or wall anchors if you think you will be putting heavy items in the storage containers.
Now, for the real fun with this look why not have them hung on the wall in a fun pattern. You can a grid of three rows of three to cover a large open space. For smaller spaces why not create rows of shabby chic storage.
