classes at the local community college for Tae Kwon Do and Akido. In 1992 he began training in the martial arts for American Kenpo Karate under 5th degree Black Belt Tim Bulot.

In 1999, Mr. Pierce got his certification from the Academy of Kenpo Karate in Irving, Texas, and began assisting in teaching martial arts to children and adults. In speaking with Mr. Pierce, he goes on to explain how breaking down the different martial arts techniques involved in Kenpo Karate opened his eyes and took him to a whole new level of appreciation and understanding of the art. In it's most simplistic way, walking through the techniques and just doing them, and teaching them are two different things. You gain a greater understanding of the vocabulary of motion involved in putting together techniques in a way that does not duplicate every time, but rather, adapts and grows.

In 1999, Mr, Pierce earned his 1st Degree Black Belt in American Kenpo. He has subsequently gone on to earn his 2nd and 3rd degree black belt.

In 2007, Mr. Pierce went on to open his first school - Dallas Kenpo Karate. He began teaching out of the Samuell Grand Recreation Center in Dallas, Texas. As of May 1, 2008, he will be moving to a new location in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas, working out of the Lake Highlands North Recreation Center.

On Tuesday and Thursday nights, you can find Mr. Pierce at the recreation center enthusiastically teaching students of all ages and belt rankings His greatest inspiration to continue teaching is when he shows one of his students a way to alter a technique to suit a purpose, and he sees the light behind their eyes come on.
