At the end of every semester, final exams are probably not the only thing on college students' minds. When all your financial aid is running out and you have rent to make, you start thinking about selling back your old textbooks.

The best ways to sell college textbooks are similar to the best ways to buy them. Bookstores are the most common option, since they have buyback periods at the end of every semester. It is usually convenient fast money, especially since often times your university bookstore will set up tents around campus for people eager to sell their books back. The problem with this is that you always get gypped. Bookstores are notorious for having extremely low buy back prices. Even if you didn't touch your book and they can sell it next semester as brand new (and they probably will), you're looking at probably half of what you bought it for if you're lucky. Another problem with this is that if the class switched to a new book and professors don't request it, they might not even take it.

So what are the more profitable ways to sell your books? Well first let's talk about the downside of this. Bookstores and buyback specials are practically the only way you can get rid of your books right away. If you're willing to hold on to them for a while to make more money, then the rest of these options are for you.

When college students financial aid starts to run out and rent must be paid, the average student starts to think about selling back their old textbooks.
