For those culinary-challenged The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, TX offers cooking classes with a fancy meal and a personalized Mansion chef's coat.

The next class offered Oct. 11th will be held at 2821 Turtle Creek Boulevard at 6 p.m. Price is $250 per person.

Located in the heart of downtown the mansion offers an ambience much like a residence and is considered one of the top hotels. The five-star, five-diamond restaurant there is open for lunch and dinner and offers and private and more public dining with a veranda. Once the proud home of a cotton magnate, the place has received rave reviews in national magazines. It's also a popular place for weddings and meetings and provides off-site catering with its exquisite cuisine.

Hotel Chef John Tesar always had cooking in his blood. While attending New York University he worked for several restaurants in the Hamptons before making the decision to go to Paris and study French cuisine at the prestigious La Varenne Ecola de Cuisine. Now he teaches the cooking classes also at The Mansion. After manning the kitchen at some of New York's hottest, trendiest restaurants, his childhood dream finally came true as he opened his first New York restaurant, 13 Barrow Street and received glowing reviews. In 2003 celebrity chef Rick Moonen lured him back to New York by offering him a chance to head up the kitchen operation as executive chef for his highly-acclaimed restaurant. Tesar's experience, vision, and leadership have positioned him for one of the most coveted chef positions in the culinary world at The Mansion, the only five-star, five-diamond hotel in Texas.

Past themes of the class include Southern salutes, appetizers, dining in opulence, Soup, Salad, Lighter Fare, Cooking Basics, Entrees, Chef for A Day, and Seaside Dining, among others.

"Taking a cooking class is a great way to sharpen your culinary skills while learning about a different culture, maybe at the same time," said Food Writer Rhonda Parkinson.

The restaurant at The Mansion is called one of the finest dining experiences in the world by Triple A with its Southwest, American cuisine.
