Michael Johns Voted Off American Idol

Michael Johns was voted off of American Idol last night. Although, based on that one performance itself, the voters were wrong. But eventually he would be voted off, and it would have only taken a few weeks. Based on overall performance, it wasn't the right decision either.

If we were to base the person to go home based solely on last night I would have to say Syesha or Jason should have been the ones to get cut. Even Brooke White's performance was not as electric as Michael's on performance night. Even though he had pitch problems and a somewhat shaky voice he still came across as the better and more honest performer than Syesha and Jason combined. He tried something new, which we have yet to see Brooke White do.

If we were to base the voting from all the performances we've seen Michael and every other contestant do, he would still not have been the person to send home last night. Syesha has been consistent with not showing herself to the audience and taking songs from her idols and trying to monopolize off of them. Her performance was laughable, whereas Michael should have been given more credit for trying something new while at the same time trying to be himself.

It would seem though that voters felt they had reason enough to vote him off the show. I would gather from what I saw in his performance the other night that they just weren't feeling what he was feeling. He wasn't captivating the audience enough. It does seem, at times, that he just didn't want it enough and was a little too laid back. It he had stuck to what he does best, maybe changing it up a bit, and being himself and excited about it. He would still be on for next week and someone else would be dismissed last night.
