Keep running
I'll catch up soon
I'd never dare to hold you back

Believe that you have a true friend
Which is more than many can say they've owned

Owned?

Sure.
A friend is like a place to live
Home.
Better bypass unstable rent
Pay our steady mortgage
Cause in friendship we own

Know I'll always be there
Stand you up
Help you brush off those knees
I'll hang back
I'll hang close by
If ever you should need

More generous and wise words
Have been spoken
But I am only human
Remember I'm a heart
A hand
A connected soul
Should the need arise

And there have been
Less selfish persons
More honest spirits
I'm doing all I can
I know you are hurting
So, I'll hold the tissues
You can cry as long as you need to

So what of that which tries to separate us?
What of those obstacles?
Tell me, what can separate from the heart
What has been eternally conjoined?
I tell you
Neither time, nor sorrow
Nor death
Can estrange any one thing from another
That in love
Knows what's false and what is real

Know that the ills and woes of life
Are irrelevant to how the heart feels
If you truly love
You know true friendship will never leave
Let's be certain it never will
