Here's the scenario: The U.S. government somehow manages to shake the chains of big-energy companies. We invest heavily and subsidize even more heavily into solar and wind. With our energy consumption now subsidized by renewables, we become nearly 100 percent energy-independent.

We now no longer trade with non-democratic nations in the Mideast nor do we send thousands of our soldiers there to die, and we have taken a lot of wind out of the sails of terrorism's rhetoric. No more infidels in the Holy Lands, and we no longer use their oil.

More oil for everybody else.

The Chinese step in and readily fill the consumer void the U.S.A. created. Before anybody tries to disrupt supplies, just take a look at the Chinese military, which has been vastly improved by years of trade dollars coming in from the West. And, we have no free press to speak of, nor do our people have significant access to this news, and just in case, we have a well tuned propaganda machine to drown out voices trickling in over the Internet.

The Western governments won't do anything. They no longer care about the oil and natural gas. Besides the United States cannot afford to keep bases operational in the region. Not only do they want to avoid any direct confrontations with the largest military in the world, they don't want to endanger the flow of low-cost sweatshop goods flowing into their markets.

Westerners get very upset when global politics raise the price of apparel.

Oh, you got terrorists? Bring 'em on. We've got over a billion people to throw at ya.

And, al Qaeda is completely occupied with their new Super Power enemy.

It always feels good to say independent or independence. It is the near equivalent of yelling FREEDOM! at the top of your lungs and meaning it.

We're finally doing it on our own.

That might be why Energy Independence legislation feels so good.

Takeaways
  • Mideast Security
  • U.S. Energy Independence equals less security for Mideast nations
Did You Know?
If the U.S. somehow establishes energy independence, who will interfere with Mideast politics? I don't know, but I got an idea. China?
