Taking a Vacation to Death Valley National Park

Death Valley National Park is located east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California. It extends into Esmeralda County in Nevada as well. This park is the hottest and driest national park by far in the United States. It is also one of the largest national parks, encompassing other
 mountain ranges and many other valley areas. There is around ninety five percent of this park that is designated wilderness. Even though this park is in an extremely arid climate and is mostly desert, it is still full of interesting sights to check out if you are on vacation in this region of the world. Death Valley has many different species of wildlife even though it is a desert park. There have been a great and many movies filmed here and wildlife programs. If you love westerns, this is a great place to visit to see where a lot of western have been filmed over the years. There are many different geological regions in Death Valley National Park that make it full of many natural wonders.

There are many sight seeing destinations by one's own personal vehicle all around Death Valley National Park. You can drive your automobile, bicycle, mountain bike, or hike on foot to the many areas around the park to see the natural wonders and wildlife. You can go on a ranger led tour that are held from November through April, as the winter months have become the most popular time to visit this park. You can also have a costumed reenactment of the historic Death Valley Scotty's Castle played out for you for a fee. Bad Water Road and Scotty's Castle Road are both paved and provide access to the major scenic and historic view points of interest. There are also many unpaved four wheel drive roads that provide limited access to the wilderness hiking, various camping and historical sites. When going off road on one of these four wheel drive trails your vehicle must be licensed and street legal.
