Kate Gosselin is the mother of twins and sextuplets on the popular reality series 'Jon and Kate +8'. People either REALLY love her or they can't stand her. Her defenders are always talking about how 'real' and 'not phony' she is, whining in Kate's defense: "How would you feel if YOU had sextuplets and twins?! Think you'd be so nice all of the time with all those cameras in your face?"

What I think would be exceptionally non-phony, would be to film a show in the projects with a single guy, his 3 baby mammas, three kids each and all the accoutrement's of ghetto living. They could call it '3x3=9'.

Since at least for today, the world isn't ready for that show I have some alternative viewing ideas: National Geographic's 'Human Footprint,' and from VBS.tv I recommend 'Garbage Island.' While 'Human Footprint' is chocked full of fascinating statistics about American consumption, it is presented in an almost too gentle manner to accurately portray the situation.

'Human Footprint' traces the resource consumption and waste of an American couple throughout a lifetime. The grand finale of the show features all off these items all organized, and neatly stacked up. This part is somewhat phony because it looks nothing like human footprint I saw on the street the other day. On a recent windy trash day, the garbage man left a colorful trail of rancid broccoli, fish heads, and dog turds. That stuff is biodegradable I guess. This show just stacked up things like 7 refrigerators, 15 computers, 12 cars, artistically arranged miles of beer and pill bottles. Excluded from the imagery included dirty diapers or other yucky things people pile up over a lifetime.

It is noted that for everyone on the entire planet to consume like the average American, we would need to spread ourselves over 4 planets. This brings us back to the place where 'Human Footprint' and 'Jon and Kate + 8' intersect.

Takeaways
  • Jon and Kate endorse an irresponsible lifestyle
  • There are much less annoying ways to waste time
  • Characters on HBO's 'Big Love' may be tragically flawed but at least some of them are likeable
Did You Know?
3,796 diapers x 8= 30,368 diapers. According to the calculations of nationalgeographic.com, this is how many diapers the Gosselin brood will produce in a lifetime. That's a lot of shit!

PRIVATE MESSAGE RECEIVED FROM 'http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/231041/chrissy_mishler.html Yet another bashing of the Gosselings. And whats even more funny is you dont know these people and yet you choose to Judge them by your standards. You should be so proud. You put down so many people in your post. Why would you take it apon your self to say all these hurtfull things. What gives you the right to put people down you dont even know. Im all for freedom of speach. Thats why I'm writing you back. But this is crazy calling people names and catagorizing them as such hurt full things. I bet you cant even imagine what people say about you all day. When your grocery shoping. "man that Woman shouldn't have kids." or "OMG what a terrible Mom" ... We could spend our whole live judging others by our standards but who does it help. Really you tell who your artical helps?

Bree-I wanted to answer your questions, why yes I am happily married with one child. Somehow I never like you said 'unexpectedly woke up to find myself with eight kids'. A woman can get pregnant, rarely in nature with more than 8 fetuses. But guess what...in that situation fertility drug induced or otherwise they all die. So are you going to be trying out for that new show 3x3=9. Good luck with that! You sound perfect.

Poligamist bad guy/Utah-gangster, prophet-patriarch, 'Roman' from HBO's 'Big Love,' makes a big foot print driving his wives (including his child-bride of 15 years old) around in a Hummer.

Correction: dirty diapers are addressed by "Human Footprint,' the visual provided seemed indequate to convey the truth. Narrator Elizabeth Vargas did mention, that in a lifetime, each child requires 3796 diapers. She said this involves 4 trees and tons of non-biodegradeable plastics and the fact that 500 years of American dirty diapers would be enough to cover the entire state of Texas. I am uncertain if this number reflects dirty adult diapers required in the years beyond the twilight years.
