Love or Hate Ghost Whisperer?

A television show I regularly watch on Friday nights is "Ghost Whisperer". Originally, I thought the premise was quite silly and wondered how anyone would actually sit through an entire hour of far fetched ghost stories. The only reason I started watching it was because my husband is a Jennifer Love Hewitt fan (like millions of other men) and is a loyal viewer. In the show, Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt) speaks to ghosts who have not yet passed over to the "other side" due to unsettled issues with their still-alive loved ones. What my husband and I always find to be incredibly unbelievable is that Melinda's husband, Jim Clancy (played by hunky David Conrad), is so understanding when she runs all over town at all hours chasing down ghosts and their relatives.
Most marriages would suffer due to the attention paid by Melinda to other people who aren't even relatives, friends, clients or colleagues. The people / ghosts she helps are complete strangers and these ghosts bother her in her house. But Melinda and Jim start to grow on you and you kind of get roped in. They're both so attractive and also genuinely nice characters.
The producers of the show are smart to have well known actors cast in the supporting roles. Jay Mohr plays Professor Rick Payne, a ditsy sort of intellectual who teaches courses on the supernatural at the local university. We loved him from the movie "Jerry McGuire". He seems so wimpy and scared during his ghost encounters with Melinda. But he's a good guy and ends up endearing in the end.
Of course, we all know the actress who plays Melinda's partner in the antique store, Delia Banks (played by Camryn Manheim). Camryn Manheim played Ellenor Frutt in the drama series "The Practice," for which she won an Emmy Award and the Golden Globe Award. We tend to like her because she thinks Melinda is crazy and has a hard time believing that she speaks to ghosts.
