Interior car cleaning can be a major chore if a problem arises. When I decided to trade in my old car for a newer model, I discovered that there was significant interior car cleaning to be done. I wanted my car to look and smell the best to get a higher value on it. You will be amazed at how many little spills, accidents and so forth can do your car's interior. Here are some cleaning tricks for interior car cleaning to help you get your car back in top condition.

Overall Bad Car Odor

Does your car just have an overall bad odor? Most often we put groceries, gym clothes, toys and other items in the trunk of our car. The trunk stays closed and can collect a great many odors. Overtime, this odor can actually permeate the trunk liner and trunk itself. The main cause for overall bad car odor is often the odors seeping out of the trunk into the car's interior.

Remove the trunk liner and scrub with the carpet brush at a self-cleaning car wash. Use the dry foam setting. Completely cover the liner and allow it to set for several minutes before vacuuming. This will allow the dry foam crystals to absorb and break loose bacteria and odors.

While the dry foam crystals are soaking into the carpet lining, hose down the trunk. There should be drain holes. Remove the spare tire and avoid soaking any electrical components. Do this with the car off. Use several cloths and wash the trunk with a mild dishwashing soap. Rinse well. Dry with large towels. Once this is complete, vacuum the liner and replace everything. Hang a car deodorizer in the trunk itself and change often. You can even use a carpet or fabric refresher spray on the liner.

Ash Trays

Ash trays can leave horrible odors in your car. If you allow smoking in your car, fill the ash trays partially full of baking soda. Empty the ash trays each time you get out. Never allow the ash trays to remain with butts and ashes in a closed up car. You can leave a box of baking soda in the car to refill the ash tray each time that you empty it.

Great ideas. I also read about an activated carbon odor absorber called Innofresh AUTO ODOR ELIMINATOR, so I tried it for a combination of smoke odor and spilled milk? Well, it worked incredibly well. I had tried lots of different things before and I really don't like those fragranced air fresheners (besides read the warning statements). Instead, this little carbon odor absorber is totally fragrance free so it actually gets rid of the smell. I strongly recommend it. I checked on line and you can also get it at Checker auto, Schucks, Kragen auto and Murrays. Probably also online I'd guess. If you're car smells and you hate those fragrances like I do, then I suggest you also give this a try.
