Don't judge Pie in the Sky Pizzeria in Sierra Village by its exterior appearance. The bright yellow and blue painted shack with the oversized sign houses one of the best (and biggest) pizzas to be found in California's Sierra Nevada mountain range.

Pie in the Sky Pizzeria's menu consists of various pizzas, hot sandwiches, and salads. The pizza features a thicker crust and oversized toppings that are piled high over a thick layer of cheese. A variety of specials are available for couples, small families, and large families that include pizza, salad, breadsticks, and beverages. In addition to the traditional range of soft drinks and domestic beers, a variety of specialty beer and microbrews are available on tap.

When ordering and Pie in the Sky Pizzeria, it is important to remember that as a general rule of thumb, order a pizza that is one size smaller than what you would normally order. Even though the "large" pizza pan hanging on the wall is the same size as the one hanging on the wall of your local pizza parlor that does not mean that the pizza you receive will neatly fit inside the circumference of the pan. More likely, the edges of the pizza crust will drift over the edges of the pan. Also, if you order one of the multi topping pizzas, expect that the lid of the pizza box will not neatly close without it bending out of shape a little in the middle.

The interior of Pie in the Sky Pizzeria feels like a cozy, old ski shack. The varnished wood walls are decorated with old school ski gear and other sports memorabilia. Individuals who enjoy retro video games will enjoy the small selection of classic arcade games.

An important note to non locals: if you should decide to sit at the bar to enjoy your dinner while watching pizzas being made, turn your cell phone off. The house rule requires that any customer sitting at the bar whose cell phone rings must purchase a round of drinks for the others at the bar.
