Hi there, what settings did you use to get the TV out working with your presario amd 3000? I've got the same laptop but the svideo isn't doing anything when I hook them up together. I've always used thinkpads before and it was automatic, I'll check back but in case somebody can email me at amysemail@gmail.com, that would be great. (email link here) Thanks!

Have the Compaq R3000 with the AMD Anthlon so far no problems. How much memory can I put in it? It has 512 MB want more RAM to help video 420 card. I am running the thing to my TV on an S video cable for watching Joost .com videos. Had to back down to 16 bit instead of 32 bit to elimnate jerky play back. Any one else using the R3000 AMD to throw videos to their TV out there and how is it working for you?

I run a compaq presario, and I use programs from fruity loops and adobe audition to after efects and 3DS max. I take it to school every day, and use it almost 15-20 hrs a day. besides some annoying sound card noise, it runs fine. I don't know if I ended up with a high end one or something, it was handed down to me. Mine runs a Pentium 4 at 2.8ghz with the built in 256mb of ram with an additional 512. not very good for rendering, but upgrading to a gig of ram will help. I've never had a single problem with my power supply, or anything else for that matter. There is an annoying 1.1 usb port on mine, but I use it for my mouse anyways. I thought mine was crappy just because of a bad soundcard and a small amount of ram, but it looks like I got the only one that works.

Hey everyone, plenty of people on eBay selling better quality replacement jacks. Careful tho, some aren't the correct length for the retail cord. I am an electronics technician with zero patience for engineering haste and short-sightedness. Compaq needs to acknowledge mistakes and rectify them ASAP. I'll never deal with them. Definitely a complete tear-down, rebuild, situation here. If you just re-flow the bad joints on the motherboard it will inevitably happen again. After buying replacement jacks, I tore my, and eventually 3 other, R3000's apart, cleaned the pads, and attached the new connectors (with plenty of acid-free flux!) & voila! fixed em all. 1st one took me 3 hours to make screw templates & disassemble then the next 3 only took about 1 hour start to finish.
