THE BOSTON BRUINS NEED NEW OWNERSHIP

I often write about how great it is to live in New England, and how lucky we are to have such competitive teams. This is never the case with the Boston Bruins. No matter how much heart and desire this team has, they never have a fighting chance in the NHL. Why? That's and easy question. Jeremy Jacobs has owned them for over 33 years. In 1994, Robert Kraft bought the New England Patriots, and we all know what kind of product he puts on the field every single season. The teams success is directly linked to his willingness to listen to the fans, his coaching staff, and his heart. He is never afraid to open his wallet, and help make his team an elite football franchise. He also built a beautiful stadium, and kept the Pats in Mass; where they belong. The results: 3 World Championships, with who knows how many more to follow.
In 2002 John Henry, and his elite crew, bought the Boston Red Sox. Not only has his ownership made the Red Sox into a much respected franchise, winners of two World Championships since. He has also managed to create enough revenue by adding seats to Fenway, without hurting the image of a beautiful ball park. Tickets prices have gone way up, making it almost impossible to afford going to a game, but this is the price of winning. Fenway looks great, and the Sox are winning.
Also in 2002, Wycliffe Grousbeck bought the Boston Celtics. After some initial growing pains, he has built a team that is poised to compete for yet another World Championship for Boston. Whether they win or not is really irrelevant. He has a team that is very competitive. Again, another owner that was not afraid to open his wallet, and put a great team on the court.
All three of these owners have a lot in common. They were willing to spend money to produce competitive teams. They were willing to give them a great venue to play in, and they were smart enough to hire great coaches and staff to lead all of these teams. They are all great fans of their respective sports.Great teams need great owners, and all 3 are just that.
