A Review of the Top Selling Apple MacBook MB403LL/A
I Take a Bite Out of This Apple Portable
The Apple MacBook MB403LL/A has come in and like most Apple laptops it is gorgeous. It is just over 1 inch thick at its highest point and weighs a little more than 5 lbs. While it isn't an Apple Air, this MacBook will still turn some heads. But just like in the world of dating it's what's on the inside that counts right? I'm going to tell what kind of user will get the most out of the Apple MacBook MB403LL/A and who will be disappointed. Lets first lift the hood...The Hardware:
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
RAM: 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM
Storage: 160 GB ATA hard drive
Optical Drive: CD R/RW combination drive with Double Layer DVD R/RW
Girth and weight: About 1" thick and 5 lbs
Like I mentioned before this Apple MacBook MB403LL/A is a real head turner. This little 13.3" screened baby weighs in at about 5 lbs making it super portable so you can turn heads anywhere. Upon start up I was impressed with the 1280x800 screen. While I've seen high resolutions from Apple this works just fine and the screen appears clean and crisp with an appropriate brightness level. I'm in a well lit office and the florescent lights are producing little glare. The integrated video card is a little bit of a letdown compared to the rest of the machine. It uses shared video ram and I think Apple may have skimped there to save a little money. The 2GB of RAM that comes preloaded is adequate but remember it's shared with the graphics accelerator so if you plan to do anything too graphically intense you may want to consider an upgrade in that department. The 2.4GHz core 2 Duo clips along nicely and you'll have little problems doing day to day tasks and I had no problem opening multiple flash intensive web pages which sometimes bogs down other underpowered laptops. The battery life is above average in my opinion for laptops in general but not as good as the MacBook Air for instance.
So all good there lets see what the Apple MacBook MB403LL/A offers in way of connectivity.
Connectivity:
1 FireWire (think transferring video from your digital camcorder)
2 USB 2.0 ports (for your iPod or printer)
1 DVI
1 VGA (for your monitor)
1 S-video (for a projector etc.)
- Great battery life.
- Integrated video card is a let down.
- Only 2 USB ports.
