This is a simple craft project that will turn out beautiful handmade ornaments for your Christmas tree. There is something wonderful about hand made ornaments that make them perfect for Christmas. This is also a great craft project to do with the kids. They can make one every year to commemorate each Christmas.

To Make Christmas Cookie Cutter Ornaments You Will Need:

Metal or Plastic Christmas Cookie Cutters
Photographs or Scrapbook Paper
Scissors
Exacto Knife
Hot Glue
Ribbon

I like to make this easy craft project with old photographs. It adds a great vintage charm to your Christmas tree. It is also a great way to remember all of your family members. If you want though you can substitute any kind of patterned papers you want. Scrapbook paper, wrapping paper, paper bags, and construction paper will all work.

Go ahead and photocopy your original photographs because you are going to be cutting them. You can easily turn color photos into black and white photos this way for a more uniform look. Kinko’s can also print these photocopies in a sepia finish, which is also very old looking. For some added color you could even print your black and white photos on colored paper. This is a great way to unify all of your ornaments for a pulled together look, yet still have different images on each one.

Lay out your photos or craft paper. Now, lay your Christmas cooking cutter on top of the photo. Use a pencil to trace the outside of the cookie cutter. Cut this shape out with your scissors or exacto knife. I like to cut right inside of the pencil line. This way your paper fits perfectly onto the ornaments.

Now, run a bead of hot glue along the back of your cookie cutter. This needs to be very thin or you will have glue spilling over the edges, which is not very finished looking. Carefully place your cut out photo or scrapbook paper on the back of the ornament.
