My Mother lay before me
her time drawing to a close
breathing growing shorter
so much left do to, now tears and woes

For though she left this life
at too young of years,
Still, it's so hard to try
to hold back all these tears.

No one could ever take her place.
For, she gave life unto me.
Yet, there are friends and family all around
and they bring comfort to me.

That would be a part of her,
Which was the plan of God, I guess.
But, that doesn't keep me from missing her,
it's a space of emptiness.

I saw, in her eyes,
a tear and the brilliance there,
Just before she left here and with God arise
I was still asking in Prayer,

"Please be with her Lord and Mighty King
guide her along the way, don't let her be alone.
Fill this house with peace and comfort
Let Heaven be her home.

Wrap her in your wings,
Fill her with your all abundant love,
Call the angels on high to sing,
Help her ascend like a dove.

She believed, Oh Lord, in your gift,
was faithful and taught us all to believe.
She never gave up nor from you drift
she suffered her cross without relief.

Her heart could only shine,
She tried so hard to show us cheer.
Her soul so pure and kind
Refusing to quit, trying so hard to stay here.

I knew she was still very near.
I said "I love you Mother,
Take God's hand and go my dear,
Like you, there is no other."

I looked all around the room,
the clock seemed to slow.
I did not feel any gloom,
Rather a wonder and a glow.

Did I see the wonder on her face,
soft and gentle in the early morning twilight,
So wonderfully full of grace,
and with a sigh she no longer had to fight.

But, when I think of how I felt when she left,
A mix of love and regret,
My heart torn between joyous and bereft,
The tears upon my cheeks warm and wet.

Rejoice now in your heavenly home.
Watch over and take care
Of us each and every one,
We will miss you Mommy my dear.

I thank you, Oh my Lord,
bring us to Thee,
to you we call in Prayer,
our heads bowed and on our knees.

Someday, when our tired souls
Do join with her and Thee,
May we worship together and
In Thy presence and Thy Holiness see.

Thank you. Bless you and I hope you are coping well with your grief. I have no doubt that I will see her again. During her illness a song came out by the group Pink called Who Knew...I cry every time I hear it. We knew she had cancer 3 years ago, but we never really believed she would actually die...hopeful, wishful thinking I guess. But the song is uncannily perfect.
